Hemingways - Horrible service, drinks, food and service

A group of 10 went to Hemingway's on Friday, October 7th, for dinner.When the server took our order, she assured us that she could split the checks among the appropriate parties with no problem whatsoever.

After waiting over an hour for food, two decided to cancel their order and leave, but not until after they paid for their drinks. After the remaining 8 finally received their dinner and finished eating, we asked for our respective checks. The server continually dodged us at which point we requested to see the manager. After another 15-20 minute wait, we asked again for the manager and the server informed us she was calling the police on us.

When the police arrived, we finally saw the manager. We were told that we could not split the check and that he needed credit cards from us. We gave him our credit cards and he then took it upon himself to split the check 3 ways AND add gratuity on top. My friend and I were charged almost $94 for what should have been an approximately $55 bill.

We protested these charges, but were told that NOTHING could be done because the bill was already closed out. We ended up paying for the food AND drinks for the couple that left even though they had cancelled their food order AND had already paid for their beverages. We never had any intention of leaving without paying our bill, so there was no need for the cops to be called.

We were told by the police that we could dispute the charge with the credit card company when it came out.The management and staff of this restaurant are crooks and should not be allowed to continue in the business.
